The Buckley-Joyce was deferred to 30th January. There was a fine attendance,
which was very pleasing since Mick & Tom were two stalwarts of the ‘original’ club -
one that was very focused on drawing for partners (we didn’t have such a selection
of established pairings then). Thanks to all who took part - and apologies to those
who couldn’t! For those of you expecting to see the result posted here - all of the
Majors’ results are only announced on the night of the President’s Dinner.
While all Members will get the “Welcome Pack” on joining, I would again ask
that all Members familiarise themselves with the Rules - specifically Bidding boxes
and Etiquette. You should all re-acquaint yourselves with the responsibilities around
scoring Boards, and completing the hand - especially with the replacement of the
cards, c/f note above and recent results... Also, the new CBAI information sheet is
very important, as it clarifies the requirements for - and differences between - Alerts
and Announcements.
I have been asked to explain the use of both Discarding systems, and Transfers.
There are pockets containing these pamphlets available, and they will be on the
table each Wednesday. Feel free to take one - a Sheet, not a pocket! You can also
ask for one on the Monday morning if you want.
The Club meets every Wednesday evening in Shannon Golf Club, play starting at 7.15. We welcome all
visitors at any skill level, and we will always arrange a partner for anybody who wishes to arrive alone. Cost to visitors
is a mere €12.50pp. Contact Mary O’Connor on +353 86 239 7079 or Jimmy on +353 86 8349155 for further details
on Non-Member play arrangements.
Members can also contact the President (Marie) on 086-8048657 should you find yourself needing a
temporary partner for a session. Note that the T’s & C’s for these arrangements are in the Minutes of the
2014/2015 AGM - c/f Committee Page.
Every Monday morning at 10am, in the same venue, there are lessons for all from absolute beginners through
to those who feel their game needs honing - or indeed some reawakening! We also ‘review’ interesting hands
from previous Wednesdays in the “Hands of the Week” page.
See the About page for further details on the Club and it’s history.
There’s a few new additions (in Red) to the Hands of the Week pages from the
Summer that may wake up the old grey matter.
For those too lazy to check out the Gallery, here is a selection of shots from the
Gala Evening in May ‘14. (Turn on your Sound...)
